I love Mexican food and, for a quiet island getaway in the Pacific Northwest, Mijitas is punching way above its weight. This restaurant is super popular, put in your reservation in advance. The menu is small, and the menu items are carefully prepared and full of flavor. I had the carne asada, which was served simply with a flank that was perfectly cooked and grilled scallion. My son got the dungeness crab enchiladas which, importantly, were not served with cheese, but were sauced with a delicious warm mole and strong notes of chile and cinnamon - a flavor which evoked true Mexican cookery. The drinks menu is great. The indoor restaurant is cozy with elements of Spanish colonial design and the bold, bright colors of Mexico throughout. The restaurant is clean and the service is quick, kind, and to a point. This was the highlight of our trip, and I would make it a priority to return when I come to Orcas next time.

Every dish on the menu at this cozy (and I mean COZY) restaurant is excellent. But I have to recommend the beef short ribs in a blueberry mole sauce. Unbelievable combination of flavors that make this a favorite dish. Be sure to make reservations!

We sat outside and it had a very warm and cozy atmosphere. They offer blankets if you’re cold. Our server was super on top of it and attentive despite it being busy. My husband and I weren’t super hungry and shared the chicken enchilada and beet salad. Both were very tasty and the perfect portion size! Highly recommend!

We were on our way to another restaurant, but we could smell the fresh tortillas from a block away and changed our mind to go to Mujitas. After a short 15 minute wait, we were seated. The chips and salsa are really good, and we ended up getting a side of guac, which made us definitely eat too many chips. (No regrets though!) We ordered a Dos Enchiladas plate with chicken and salsa Verde. The chicken was a bit bland, and we realized we didn't care for salsa Verde, but are glad we tried something new. We also ordered the Tacos Al Pastor, something we've never tried before, and we're pleasantly surprised! We really enjoyed the tacos, especially the pineapple and the salsa. We highly recommend this dish! Overall, we enjoyed the experience and the food was good!

Nothing can go wrong at this venue. Fun, local vibe. Friendly staff. Lomo de Puerco and Pollo al carbon is our usual go to and their mesquite spice is to die for! And chips are always served warm. I enjoy eating out in their lovely courtyard in the summer time as the indoor seatings can get really cozy. They are almost always busy throughout the year and reservations are highly recommended. Food is 9 out of 10 times amazing but I've had inconsistent meals a few times in the past.

We had a 6 PM reservation Saturday in June that happened to coincide with the high school graduation. We saw there were several families dining together. We were seated outside pretty swiftly, but it took quite some time for the servers to even bring us water and then chips & salsa. We do understand it was a busy weekend and evening, so no worries! When the food was delivered, it was absolutely worth it - as my salad with grilled chicken was absolutely delicious. Very fresh ingredients and the chicken had a delightful flavor. My husband enjoyed his tacos meal as well. For the food - this is a definite go-to! Just make sure you make a reservation (as during our stay they were quoting one hour wait to walk ups) and if it is a busy evening, just be a little patient with service.

We were pleasantly surprised by our dinner at Mijitas; we split the Crab Enchiladas, Fish Tacos, and a Sopaipilla for dessert. The Enchiladas are out of this world. Fish tacos were slightly above average! Sopaipilla was phenomenal, featuring local cinnamon ice cream. Our server, Kelly, made the whole night come together. Do not miss!
